Teaching kids positive ways to change how they feel is one of the most rewarding parts of my job as a Yoga Calm Trainer and teacher. Several Tuesdays each month I work with adolescents and children in the mental heath and dual diagnosis (mental health and chemical dependency) units at University of Minnesota Hospital at Fairview Riverside. Although the students are sometimes resistant and uncomfortable at the beginning of our hour-long sessions of breathing, mindfulness and movement, they almost always end up feeling more calm, relaxed and positive by the time we are done.

To learn more about the work we are doing at the hospital, read the Oct. 14, 2015 article “Finding their center.”
